Quail Valley GT Academy Students Stacy Tao and Anton Zhou win 2012 National Scholastic Art Competition 

FORT BEND ISD – Two Quail Valley Middle School GT Academy students, Stacy Tao and Anton Zhou, received art awards at The 2012 National Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. Stacy received two Gold Key awards for her oil paintings, “Tune of Spring” and “Melody of Nature,” in the South Reagion-at-Large program. Her painting, “Tune of Spring,” also earned high honors as an American Visions Nominated piece. Anton earned a Gold Key award for his oil painting, “German Folk Valley,” and a Silver Key award for his painting, “Veteran Cowboy.”

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923. It celebrates the creative achievement of America’s teens and offers recognition and scholarships for students for their artistic talents. In 2012, more than 200,000 works were submitted to the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition nationwide.

Stacy Tao is an eighth-grade student of art teacher Dejuan Hickerson. Anton Zhou is a seventh-grade student of art teacher Katherine Medina. Congratulations to both Stacy and Anton for their outstanding achievements.
