FBISD Students Stacy Tao and Lillian Yang win 2012 Houston Rodeo Art Awards
 

FORT BEND ISD – Two Quail Valley Middle School GT Academy students received art awards at the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program award ceremony on March 3.  Stacy Tao won Best of Show, and Lillian Yang won Gold Medal distinction in the Fort Bend ISD middle school division. Stacy’s painting is titled “Friends in the Field,” and Lillian’s colored-pencil artwork is titled “Zoom.”  Both Stacy and Lillian were also named “Glassell Winners” and received scholarships to attend “The Glassell Junior School of Art” in Houston this summer.

Out of more than 300,000 student projects, there were 668 pieces of artwork from approximately 100 school districts and 60 private schools that received Best of Show, Gold Medal, and Special Merit awards.

Stacy Tao is an eighth-grade student of art teacher Dejuan Hickerson. Lillian Yang is a sixth-grade student of art teacher Katherine Medina. Congratulations to both Stacy and Lillian!
